Professional History:
American Contract Services, Inc.
: Newton, Massachusetts : 5/97 to Present
While employed by ACS in Boston I have worked as a consultant for the following
clients:
EMC Corporation. : Hopkinton, Massachusetts
: 1/01 to Present
Oracle Technical Lead Analyst/Designer/Developer
Worked in the Compliance Engineering (C.E.) department of EMC Corporation. Primary
task involved the functional analysis, design and implementation of a comprehensive
Compliance Engineering data tracking and reporting database i.e. a Design Assurance
Verification Engineering database. This involved meeting with the C.E. engineers
to determine all data recording, tracking and reporting requirements. These
requirements were then compiled into a comprehensive functional analysis document.
This functional analysis laid the groundwork for an equally comprehensive design
specification and initial system prototype, developed using Oracle Forms, Reports,
Crystal Reports and PL/SQL.
One of the greatest challenges involved was demonstrating to the engineers (users) exactly what a comprehensive oracle database system could offer them in terms of efficiency and aiding their current work efforts. Continual efforts were made (through presentations, demonstrations and prototypes to both senior management and ultimate end-users) to keep all concerned involved in all aspects of the system design and development. Tasks also included some general project management duties, such as the allocation and delegation of documentation and development tasks to members of the small design and development team involved.
Xalient : Boston, Massachusetts
: 1/00 to 12/00
Oracle Developer
Worked on the design and development of EdFinder, an online educational aid
to be used to find required assistance (educational or psychological) by parents
for their children. Developed using PL/SQL (Oracle 8i) with embedded html and
some JavaScript. Some DBA duties were required - these included installation
of Oracle 8i on a Sun Solaris box, the creation of a development and production
database and maintenance of these databases. (These functions were also carried out on a Windows NT machine).
Extensive Oracle Application Server (formerly Oracle Web Application Server) administration was required. This included the installation of the OAS software, the ongoing tuning and maintenance of the OAS, and the implementation of security protocols to limit access to the development systems. (This software was also installed on both Unix and Windows NT).
ASP/VBScript Development
Team member developing sites using ASP, VBScript, HTML and Visual Interdev v.6.0.
Client include Boston Better Business Bureau, A&E History Channel International
Affiliates and MuseumTrade (the online tradeshow branch of the Museum Shop chain).
I also incorporated MS-Access (for really small database development) and MS-Sql
Server 7.0 (for bigger databases).
GTE/Cybertrust
: Boston, Massachusetts : 8/99 to 12/99
Lead Oracle Developer/System Administrator
A general system administration position encompassing a wide range of tasks.
These include Developer 2000 v.2.0 (Forms 5.0 & Reports 2.0) development,
PL/SQL and Designer 2000 development. There is also some work involving Crystal
reports. This position is constantly evolving and requires a quick update of
skills in order to provide the necessary support. The position also involved
some maintenance and support of an Order Entry/Bill of Materials system, which
was developed externally but required quick internal bug fixes and enhancements
in order to meet the go-live deadline.
Deutschebank : New York,
New York : 4/99 to 8/99
Oracle Programmer
General support position involving maintenance of the existing database and
front-end screens and reports. Front end was developed using Oracle Developer
2000, Release 2. Also worked on the migration of the database and its data to
a new Unix system. This involved using both shell scripting and PL/SQL programming
to ensure the correct recreation of the new database exactly as it existed on
the old system.
Comdex/Ziff Davis : Boston, Massachusetts
: 10/98 to 4/99
Lead Oracle Developer
Primary Oracle developer responsible for the development of a Web-based registration
system for trade-show participants. Primary objectives were to make the system
more flexible from the user standpoint by dynamically building Web screens from
the Oracle database. The system was based on a SUN/UNIX system V server and
involved programming in PL/SQL, embedded HTML, and Oracle Web Application Server.
There were nine steps to the on-line registration system, which initially was
quite limited in its flexibility. I analyzed each step of the process and made
enhancements in accordance with specification requirements.
Harvard University : Cambridge,
Massachusetts : 9/98 to 10/98
Oracle Programmer
Review and bug fixing of PL/SQL code for future upgrade of a grants tracking
system for the University. Development of SQL/Forms to end user specifications.
Concentra Managed Care, Inc.
: Boston, Massachusetts : 4/98 to 8/98
Lead Oracle Developer
Solely responsible for upgrade and new development of the "Referrals and
Closure System." The system tracks client information; it was originally
VAX/Delphi based. My objective was to convert the data and rebuild the system
using a SUN UNIX/Developer 2000 front end with a PL/SQL based back end. Development
efforts ranged from simple values maintenance screens to more complex data upload
and reporting processes. Used Oracle Financials for report generation. Development
was monitored using ClearCase Configuration Management release tool. Bugs were
entered and tracked using Lotus Notes.
Fidelity Investments : Boston,
Massachusetts : 5/97 to 4/98
Oracle Programmer

logins etc. Also installed and supported a PC access control system known as
PC-Guard.
